FRAME-EX – Community and Inclusion

Frame Running Denmark is proud to be part of the FRAME-EX project (FRAME Running for EXercise and Participation), which aims to improve the health and quality of life for children and young people with moderate to severe physical disabilities through Frame Running.

Focus on Health, Community, and Inclusion

Officially launching in 2025, the FRAME-EX project seeks to promote physical activity and strengthen social communities among children and young people across Denmark. The project creates a vital connection between research, practice, and education, actively working to:

  • Increase awareness of Frame Running.
  • Recruit more participants and volunteers.
  • Address challenges related to transport and equipment.

The project is being conducted in collaboration with four municipalities—Frederiksberg, Odense, Kolding, and Randers—and will run until 2028. The goal is to establish inclusive communities and bring lasting changes for children and young people with physical disabilities.

Four Clubs as the Backbone of the Project

The success of the project heavily depends on the active participation of athletics and parasports clubs in the involved municipalities. These clubs are tasked with facilitating training sessions and creating safe, welcoming environments for the children and young people involved in the initiative.

Many of these clubs have offered Frame Running as part of their activities for several years, while others are new to the sport and have only recently begun offering Frame Running programs.

From the start, there has been significant enthusiasm from the clubs, which are eager to collaborate. A key component of the project will be the development of a fun, engaging, and standardized training concept to ensure consistency and high quality across all participating clubs.

The four clubs serving as the backbone of the project are:

  • Parasport Frederiksberg
  • Odense Atletik OGF
  • Randers Freja Atletik og Motion
  • Kolding KFUM Atletik og Motion

Supported by Strong Partners

The FRAME-EX project is made possible with the support of various foundations and partners contributing to both the research and practical aspects of the initiative:

  • Novo Nordisk Foundation, funding the research component of the project.
  • Elsass Foundation, providing financial support for the practical aspects earlier this year.
  • UCL’s Interdisciplinary Research Fund and The Danish Physiotherapists' Solidarity Fund, both offering significant contributions.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the following institutions and organizations:

  • UCL University College
  • Parasport Denmark
  • University of Southern Denmark (SDU)
  • Research and Implementation Center for Physical Activity, Movement, and Learning (FIIBL)
  • Odense University Hospital (OUH)

An Exciting Journey Ahead

Frame Running Denmark is looking forward to contributing to this meaningful initiative and making a difference for children and young people throughout Denmark. We are excited about the collaboration and about creating a stronger foundation for health, community, and inclusion through Frame Running.
