PARASPORT FREDERIKSBERG INVITES TO WORLD-CLASS PARA ATHLETICS

For the first time, Bagsværd Stadium will host the 27th edition of the World Abilitysport International Frame Running Camp & Cup. From July 7th to 14th, 122 athletes from 21 countries will compete in the Danish-invented athletic discipline Frame Running, for athletes with disabilities affecting balance.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming international competitions, where everyone from new athletes to the world elite will gather in Bagsværd. Among them are Danish World Championship participants who will be defending the Danish colors. Throughout the week, there will be training, social activities, and competition as Bagsværd Stadium hosts the worldwide Frame Running Camp & Cup 2024.

The event is organized by Parasport Frederiksberg in collaboration with World Abilitysport and Parasport Denmark. At the Frame Running Camp & Cup, athletes, coaches, helpers, and leaders from around the world will come together. The Camp focuses on training, classification, technical assistance, coaching courses, and exchange of experiences between countries, while the concluding World Abilitysport International Cup from July 11th to 13th will feature competitions over distances from 40m to 5000m with the world's best Frame Running athletes.

The program is as follows:

• Thursday, July 11th: 100m and 800m
• Friday, July 12th: 40m, 400m, 1500m
• Saturday, July 13th: 60m, 200m, 5000m

Frame Running is an innovative athletic discipline for people with disabilities that affect balance. A Frame Runner is a specially designed 3-wheeled "running bike" without pedals, making balance issues irrelevant. This makes Frame Running an ideal sport for people with conditions such as arthritis, amputations, and cerebral palsy.

Camp committee chairman Mansoor Siddiqi stated: "We are very pleased that Gladsaxe Municipality has generously made Bagsværd Stadium and Bagsværd School available this year. This camp has always been unique, with athletes from around the world coming to compete and get feedback on training methods, etc. This year, we have once again set a participant record with 122 athletes from 21 countries. To develop the camp, we have decided to introduce the Master Cup this year, allowing long-time participants to still compete against peers. There is free admission to these competitions, and we hope to see a lot of spectators to enhance the atmosphere. We thank our partners who have made it possible to host this year's camp as a major world-class event."

The press is welcome. The opening ceremony of the World Abilitysport International Cup will take place on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Bagsværd Stadium, where the press and all other interested parties are very welcome. The opening ceremony will feature a parade of nations, national anthems, and speeches from Elsass Foundation chairman Nick Elsass and Gladsaxe Mayor Trine Græse. It will also be possible to conduct interviews with organizers and participants.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to this year's Frame Running Camp & Cup.
