Para Athletics in Paralympic Class: Frame Running Development Camp & World International Frame Running Cup Returns to Frederiksberg
Summer is upon us, and that means once again: welcome to this year’s Camp & Cup. In collaboration with Parasport Frederiksberg and Parasport Denmark, we are pleased to welcome you to the Frame Running Development Camp & World International Frame Running Cup After a successful camp in Bagsværd, we are now returning to the familiar setting of Frederiksberg Stadium. This year, 98 athletes from 18 different countries will take part in a historic camp – as it marks the first time that the Danish-invented para-athletics discipline will be included in the Paralympic Games in 2028.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming participants to a week where a unique mix of new talents and world-class athletes will have the opportunity to train, share experiences, and compete with one another.
Among the participants are also Danish athletes who will represent Denmark at the World Championships in India this September.
We are set for a week filled with great training, high spirits, and of course, exciting competitions full of speed and action.
The Frame Running Development Camp & World International Frame Running Cup is a unique opportunity for new athletes to exchange experiences with seasoned runners from all over the world while gaining valuable insights by participating in their first international event.
The first few days are dedicated to training for leaders, coaches, and athletes. The week concludes with a competition, beginning with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, July 9. The competitions will take place from July 10 to July 12 at Frederiksberg Stadium.
The program is as follows:
Thursday, July 10: 100 m and 800 m
Friday, July 11: 40 m, 400 m, and 1500 m
Saturday, July 12: 60 m, 200 m, and 5000 m
Frame Running is an innovative para-athletics discipline for individuals with physical disabilities that affect balance. A Frame Runner is a specially designed, three-wheeled running bike without pedals, making balance no longer a barrier. Frame Running is therefore a great sports option for people with conditions such as arthritis, amputations, or cerebral palsy.
Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Mansoor Siddiqi, states:
"For the past 28 years, the camp has been a catalyst for Frame Running across the globe. I am therefore pleased that Frederiksberg is becoming known for this camp.
Now that Frame Running has become an official para-athletics discipline at the 2028 Paralympic Games, I am confident that interest in the camp will grow, especially from developing countries where many will try to qualify for the Paralympics in this event."
Press is welcome.
The opening ceremony for the Frame Running International Camp & Cup will take place at Frederiksberg Stadium on Wednesday, July 9 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The press and other interested parties are very welcome to attend.
The opening ceremony will feature a parade of nations, national anthems, and speeches from John Petterson (Chairman of Parasport Denmark) and Mansoor Siddiqi (Chairman of Parasport Frederiksberg). There will also be opportunities to conduct interviews with both organizers and participants.
We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Frame Running Development Camp & World International Frame Running Cup!
